Swirl Rhyolite Rough
Swirl Rhyolite has a fabulous pattern and produces great slabs as well as interesting cabochons with unusual figuring. This rhyolite can have some fracturing along the banding. So it's best not to use very coarse grit wheels, which isn't a problem because Swirl Rhyolite is not very hard. Finished stones of Swirl Rhyolite are really beautiful and reminiscent of Crazy Lace Agate. Swirl Rhyolite polishes best with diamond and a follow up with Zam. Approximate Mohs hardness 4.5 to 5.5.
