Rolling Hill Rhyolite, as all rhyolites, is of volcanic origin. The rock has been partially silicified, which allows it to take a good polish. The undulating pattern in this material makes for unusual and eye catching stones. Rolling Hills Rhyolite polishes best with diamond, but tin and cerium oxide also work. A quick final polish with green rouge can sometimes increase the shine. Approximate Mohs hardness 6 to 7.
